About restaurant Lingon

Swedish cuisine at it's best!

Welcome to restaurant Lingon!

This year 2016, restaurant Lingon is celebrating its 15th anniversary! We are going to celebrate big with special offers and events during the whole year. We will inform you here on our website, so keep updated! You can also sign up for our newsletter on the website, or like us on Facebook, where we also will present everything that’s going on in restaurant Lingon.
Since we first opened in 2001 the restauarnat has been restored and refurbished several times, with a major reconstruction in 2009-2010. We have gently mordenised but at the same time, tried to preserve the rustic feel that is built in the old timber walls of the house. A house that dates back to the late 17th century!

From the very beginning this was a type of old tannery, a place where they prepared leather. Throughout the years there have been various businesses here. A colormen’s shop, a bicycle repair shop, a car salesmen, and a small factory printing wallpaper, amongst others. Nextdoor to restauant Lingon there was a candy factory; Karamell & Chokladfabriken Sonja, perhaps remembered by elderly Uppsala citizens.

The old backyards here and around inspired us when we built our great patio in 2010. It’s one of Uppsala’s most popular outdoor restaurants and we simply call it The Backyard. We can seat over a hundred dinner guests and we also have a lounge with cozy sofas and two bars where skilled bartenders serve you with whatever you prefer to drink. The inviting porch takes your mind to the old times Swedish “Peoples park” when the livemusic sometimes starts during bright summer nights.

Now and then we get contacted by people who earlier had their income in this old buildings. Through them we have heard many stories, and we also got in possession of some old photographs from the neighbourhood. Please browse these pictures and get a glance of Uppsala history.
